- there is just too much to say......
As a first time Mom, I had no idea what I was in for when I brought baby home. My sisters have babies but nothing can prepare you for the huge life changes that will occur when you bring your first child home. It is the most beautiful and rewarding experience of your life, yet stressful and overwhelming at the same time. If you are anything like me - type A perfectionist - it can be more stress than you could imagine.
My experience with Christy began months before my due date. She came to my home to visit for a maternity consultation. I instantly felt at ease and knew I was in the most capable of hands. We talked about everything from breastfeeding to what labor and delivery would be like. Christy also helped me to choose a wonderful hospital and, since I was soon moving and needed to change OBs mid-pregnancy, she put me in contact with someone who recommended my current OB, who was a total blessing throughout all of the ups and downs of my pregnancy. Every question or worry I had, Christy either had an answer for, or she had a resource that I could go to for the answer.
Finally, my due date arrived and I ended up delivering via c-section one day after my due date. Christy was in close contact with me and my husband while I was in the hospital. During my stay in the post-partum unit, I experienced some problems breastfeeding. Christy came out to the hospital and spent the better part of the whole day with me. She brought me some nipple cream that was a life-saver, but best of all she brought me the encouragement I needed to keep going. She talked to the nurses and got me the things I needed, and she also arranged to have them take the baby to the nursery for a while so that I could get some much needed rest.
We were discharged from the hospital on a Saturday around noon and Christy met us at home. She came armed with all kinds of things to take care of me in my recovery as well as my newborn son. She was with us the first two days around the clock. She took care of the night feedings for the baby and also made sure that I got all of my medications on time. She helped me to set a schedule for things that could be done on a schedule and helped me to let go of those things that just could not be scheduled with a newborn. That first week she helped me so much, and provided me so much comfort and support, that I begged her to come the next week 24 hours a day as well. She moved mountains to cover and re-schedule appointments so that she could be there. Christy helped me realize that all of the emotions I was having - doubt, fear, confusion - were completely natural and that I should not feel guilty. She was also able to explain to me what was going on in my body that was causing some of these feelings. Once I was able to understand the source of the feelings, I felt that much more in control and therefore calm.
I went through a period of mourning when Christy finally left, but during her stay with us she taught us so much and gave us so many tools to help us take care of our baby and ourselves. There are no words to fully express my deep gratitude to Christy. Christy is truly such a special person who genuinely loves what she does. She is tireless and takes care of babies and Mommies with the most capable of hands. She has taken care of my sister and her triplet girls and now me and my beautiful little boy. She has become a part of our family!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Christy! You are armed with professional angels who care for Mommies and babies in a way that makes God beam with pride!

Thanks for coming right over when we came home from the hospital early today.

Christy when we first met I could hardly believe we would accomplish the mountain of goals we discussed! Now four weeks later our son is sleeping 12 hours each night with two healthy daytime naps. The best is he goes down for sleep within 20 to 30 seconds and is so happy when he wakes.
